Soft Apricot Flowers for Romantic Bouquets

Alissa Light Apricot Imp. F1 brings a gentle peach-apricot colour to bouquets. Its densely layered petals create a full, elegant flower that combines beautifully with ivory, cream, blush pink, lavender and fresh green foliage.

The firm petals help reduce damage during harvesting and handling, while sturdy stems support the large blooms.

Flower colour can vary with lighting, flower maturity and growing conditions, so the shade may appear softer or warmer as the flowers develop.

What Does “Imp.” Mean?

“Imp.” is short for “Improved”. It identifies an updated breeding version of Alissa Light Apricot.

The designation distinguishes this selection from the earlier version. It does not, on its own, specify which characteristics have been improved.

Group 2 describes the variety’s flowering response and helps growers plan production under suitable conditions.

Sowing & Germination

Lisianthus grows slowly during its early stages, so start seeds indoors well ahead of the intended flowering season. Provide supplementary lighting when natural light is limited.

  • Sow one pelleted seed per cell, preferably in deep plug trays.
  • Use a fine, moist, well-drained seed-starting substrate.
  • Place seeds on the surface and do not cover with compost or vermiculite.
  • Keep the surface evenly moist so the pellet coating can dissolve.
  • During germination, the breeder recommends a substrate temperature of approximately 21°C.
  • Once seedlings are established, grow on at approximately 17–20°C, with good light and ventilation.

For more uniform germination and to reduce rosetting, the breeder recommends holding freshly sown trays at 5–8°C for approximately three weeks, before moving them into warmer conditions. This propagation method requires controlled temperatures.

Avoid prolonged high temperatures during early growth, as these can encourage rosetting and delay flowering stem development.

Transplanting & Care

Transplant when seedlings have four true leaves, before their roots become crowded in the cells. Handle the root ball gently and maintain the original planting depth.

Plant into fertile, well-drained soil. Keep moisture consistent, particularly after transplanting, while avoiding waterlogging.

Feed moderately and avoid excessive nitrogen. Support netting helps keep the long flowering stems straight. Provide regular ventilation in a greenhouse.

Flowering time varies with growing conditions. Warmer temperatures, stronger light and longer days generally encourage faster development. The 70–77-day plug production period refers to the seedling stage, not the total time from sowing to flowering.

Cutting for the Vase

Harvest stems when two to three flowers are open. Place them promptly in clean water and use cut-flower food to support vase life.

Lisianthus Alissa Light Apricot Imp. F1 combines soft apricot colour, abundant double petals and strong stems for beautiful home-grown bouquets.
